Hi, my husband and I live in a small town in Indiana. Our children have grown up and moved out, but we are now wanting to care for the children in and around our town that don't have anyone to care for them. There is a lot of abuse that happens in these childrens homes. We want to help the children get out of that environment and into a stable loving home. The problem with that is that we have to own our home and the home has to pass inspections from the Department of Family and Children before they can be placed with us. We are renting at this time and can not afford to purchase the home from our landlord at $109,000. The home is plenty big enough for lots of kids. It has 5 bedrooms, including ours, and two bathrooms. The home is almost 3,000 square ft. Once the home was purchased, we have some work that would need to be done. The roof needs to be replaced, the back porch needs some work and the basement would need to be sealed. The bedrooms need to be painted and new carpeting put in. The bathrooms need new faucets and showers. To do this it would cost around $50,000.
